Maybe go through to Okeefes Hut on first day as this will make day 2 easier and splits distance nicely for most (sub 20km days). Don't do in summer without lots of hydration.

Area Status: Closed. This campground is located near the top of Round Mountain in Cocke County. Situated at 3,100 feet, it is one of the highest-elevation campgrounds in Cherokee National Forest. The altitude, dense vegetation of rhododendrons and hardwoods, and a small mountain stream create natural air conditioning during the hot summer months.

Round Mountain Hut is a 7m x 4.2m hut made from corrugated iron. It was originally built in the early 1930s, then rebuilt after fire in the 1940s. There is a fireplace, a bench for food preparation, some rustic bunk beds, and a nearby toilet. There is space for camping around the hut and a reliable creek nearby (treat before drinking).
